Amazon.co.uk Review
Originally screened between 1989 and 1991, the sixth and seventh seasons of I?Allo ?Allo/I find the show confident, established and still with plenty of jokes to tell. p There are 18 episodes of I?Allo ?Allo/I across the two series, and the vast majority of the cast was still firmly in place. By this stage too, they all had plenty to do. So we get the marriage of Madame Fanny and Monsier LeClerc, General Von Klinkerhoffen going mad, a quick trip to England (where Sam Kelly?s Hans Geering pops up again) and the usual fun with the Fallen Madonna painting, and the two English airmen. p But it?s the core characters that continue to deliver the laughs in I?Allo ?Allo/I, from Gorden Kaye and Carmen Silvera as Rene and Edith, Richard Gibson?s marvellous Herr Flick, Guy Siner?s Gruber, Kim Hartman?s Helga through to Kirsten Cooke as Michelle of the Resistant. They all know and inhabit their characters so well, and it?s a joy to spend time with them. Whether spouting catchphrases, double entendres or simply well-written one liners, there?s plenty of fun to be had. p After series seven, the wheels started to come off I?Allo ?Allo/I a little, so this set marks really the last time to fully enjoy the series at the height of its confidence. And it?s well worth doing so, too. --IJon Foster/I

5 out of 5 stars Podgeons on the Pist!   September 11, 2008
4 out of 4 found this review helpful

Has the economy got you down? Have politics got your blood pressure up? Will one more idiotic "reality" show on the telly send you round the bend? br /br /Time for another dose of 'Allo 'Allo!--the magnificent nonsense that proves the old adage that laughter is the best medicine. And series six and seven, like series five, four, three, two, and one, will leave you whooping with laughter, no matter how many times you have seen its variations on the same theme. The maids and Lieutenant Grueber will find the podgy Rene irresistible; Edith will sing off-key; her bed-ridden mother will complain "Will nobody come to the aid of an old woman?"; Helga will bellow "COME IN!"; the black-leathered Herr Flick and Von Smallhausen will hatch their fiendish plans to no avail; the chicken-helmeted (and -hearted) Capitano Bertorelli will make-a mistake-a; Michelle of the Resistance will "say this only once;" Sergeant Crabtree will murder the "French" language, and the thick-headed British airmen will still not get away from Nuvion, that small village in occupied France where everyone collaborates with everyone else (I am passing over the "Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies" by von Klomp and the "Cracked Vase with the Big Daisies" by van Gogh.).br /br /The running gags are what make 'Allo 'Allo so much fun, and the gags in this delightful series have been running a long way for a long time. And despite the fact that the show hits all the various national and social stereotypes, the humor is good-natured; even the sexual puns and innuendo, completely lacking in subtlety, are hysterically funny and devoid of the patent crudity that infects so many "modern" American sitcoms. br /br /So, in the words of Sergeant Crabtree, witch this twee-dosk sot in the oovening and you will be sure to have a good moaning the nayxt doo.

5 out of 5 stars It hasn't yet lost it's humour   September 9, 2008
So hear we are back at cafe Rene with the same humorous situations, in real terms this has been going on longer than the war and I still find plenty to laugh at, but when I first put it on I was confused at first, Roger Leclerc had disappeared and was replaced by his twin brother Ernest all that was explained in an earlier review (thanks to Craig Taylor).br /Officer Crabtree still speaks hilariously funny poor French also in one episode Crabtree teams up with a female agent who also speaks poor French let the laughs begin (Crabtree's podgeon pist) ,madam Edith still can't sing even with the help of helium (Rising to the occasion ) and Rene takes a trip to England meets up with Hands Geering remember him from earlier in the series (club) and Churchillbr /Gives Rene a medal. (Up the crick without a piddle ).br /All the usual gags are there Rene's affair with Yvette, the fallen Madonna with the big boobies , Gruber has still got a soft spot for Rene .and so on.br /Only series 8 9 left now let's not wait to long please .br /

5 out of 5 stars Repeated and repeated and still just as good.   August 28, 2008

I received series 6+7 from Amazon on the 18th of August and have now watched all 18 episodes THREE TIMES. I know it may be a little sad, but I am about to start watching it again. Having had series 1 to 5 for a long time, I have been waiting this batch for a few years.br /This, along with Dads Army, beats anything that current TV can provide.br /I was very happily surprised that I don't recall seeing any of these episodes before, which makes them even more refreshing.br /Please encourage the supplier to release the remainder soon. I don't want to wait another couple of years.br /br /br /

5 out of 5 stars Read very carefully, I shall write this only once!   August 27, 2008

What can I say, it is at last with us, and as brilliant as I remember.br /A truly outstanding cast, fabulous humour, and the inevitable double entendre. Rene and Madam Edith along with the rest of the gang are up to the usual high jinx complete with the same British airmen they have been trying to get rid of for years.br /I believe at long last that this fabulous series is to be released in Germany. I just hope that it translates well. The Colonel (he of the Black Forest gateau factory), the lovely Lt. Gruber, the dashing Capt. Bertorelli, not to mention the beautiful Helga, Herr Flick and Von Smallhausen, are back with their usual delightful plots and strategems. br /Does Von Smallhausen actually translate into German?br /Personally I have lost track of how many Fallen Madonna and how many Big Boobies there are.br /YOU WILL LOVE IT.

5 out of 5 stars A superb comedy series, at last available to own on DVD   August 24, 2008

I've been waiting eagerly for this release and it certainly does not disappoint. The plots seem to get more and more elaborate as Rene desperately tries to live a peaceful life in occupied France (not easy when he's the "hero of the resistance" and is trying to have an affair with both his waitresses - without his wife knowing!) br /br /In this series we get to meet Officer Crabtree's potential love interest (a fellow agent with a very dodgy French accent). The resistance are still trying to get the British airman back to England whilst Herr's Flick and Von Smaulhausen are still trying to capture them and there is a brief change of command within the German Army when General Von Flockenstuffen takes over from General Von Klinkerhoffen!br /br /An excellent comedy series that is very much recommended!
