Having just revisited the entire series on DVD, I was quite keen to see what this special was. Alas, I did not find it particularly amusing or entertaining and certainly not as witty and well played as the original series. It's always a little disconcerting, I suppose, to suddenly see actors much older than you would like to remember them as being. Whatever the motive for making this special, it really doesn't do justice to the series. It satisfied my morbid curiosity to see the surviving cast members as they are now but it was hardly a 58 minute rollicking romp on a par with the original.

I loved the original series of To The Manor Born and was hopeing the 25th anniversary reunion special would be up to scratch. Luckerly it was - it was just like watching the old series. Peter Bowles, Penelope Keith and Angela Thorne settled back into their old roles - it was like they had never been away. Obviously some of the original cast have sadly passed on but most of the surviving cast including the Rector were back. To add to the enjoyment the old locations have been used too. br /br /The dvd includes the reunion special as well as a making of featurette. I would personally love to see them make another series, or at least another special. Fingers crossed !

i cant believe the ratings that this got, the acting was for the most part appalling as were the gags. a shame, as the original series were so much better. avoid this horror if you have fond memories of the original show.

There is always a worry when a classic makes a 'one-off' comeback, for they never seem to get it just right; we all want new episodes to be just like the old ones we love. So it was with great horror I learnt of this; a comeback by 'To The Manor Born'; I really didn't want them to spoil such a great series, especially as it was ended so wonderfully first time round.br /Luckily, I need not have worried. The main players were all superb, and the storyline, which in many places takes us back to familiar scenes, was excellent.br /A fitting tribute to a most memorable show, and a DVD highly recommended.

I have to say I was very disappointed with this one-off perhaps it was too long . The only person to really come out of this well was Angela Thorne who seemed to fit seemlessly back into Marjorays shoes . I think the BBC were just looking for a ratings winner and had hoped this would be it , I only hope they don't decide to make a new series .
