Amazon.co.uk Review
For those who found 2004's iAliens vs. Predator/i too lightweight in the gore-and-guns department, iAliens vs. Predator: Requiem/i offers a marked improvement in both categories, as well as a respectable amount of rumbles between the title extraterrestrials. Set in the 21st century (which predates the story to all of the iAlien/i features), iRequiem/i sends a crippled Predator ship crashing to Earth in a small Colorado town; unbeknownst to the locals, the craft is loaded with H.R. Giger's insectoid monsters, which make quick work of most of the population. As the human cast is slowly whittled to a few hardy (if unmemorable) souls, a Predator warrior also arrives to complicate matters and do battle with the Aliens, as well as a ferocious Alien-Predator hybrid (dubbed a Predalien by the sci-fi and horror press). p/pVisual-effects designers and music-video helmers The Strause Brothers (who make their feature directorial debut here) keep the action on frantic throughout, which is wise, since the dialogue and characters are threadbare at best; that should matter little to teenage male viewers, who are inarguably the film's key audience. Fans of the iAlien/i franchise, however, may find the offhanded nod to the series' mythology given during the finale its sole saving grace. i--Paul Gaita, Amazon.com/i

1 out of 5 stars Very poor   January 2, 2009
What do you make of a film you can barely see? As so many people have mentioned you can't see what's going on most of the time.br /When you can see what's going on the acting is not particularly good, but neither is the script. There is little in the way character expansion for the viewer and you are just waiting for the cast to get killed in ever more gory ways.br /The scenes in the maternity ward are in extremely poor taste and should leave the director, actors and actress' who filmed it taking a long look at themselves. Or maybe this is just modern, shock factor filming and everyone (else) is becoming used to it.br /The original Alien film had more suspense before the spacecraft landed on the planet than this has in 90 minutes, and that's nearly 30 years old.br /This is probably the death knell for this franchise I would imagine.

3 out of 5 stars same conclusion   December 22, 2008
I must admit this is not as good as previous episodes. Its bits and pieces of a good story that fails to deliver a proper film.

1 out of 5 stars horrible excuse for a film/long time fan   December 22, 2008
I was disgusted by this film. Im a huge fan of the alien movies and predator. I even quite liked AvP1. This is just awful. I am not easily shocked or offended but the scenes of pregnant women being brutaly torn apart was too much for me.None of the characters are likeable and the final showdown is a huge disappointment. People who made this film should be ashamed. There is a scene where the big pred/alien walks into a maternity ward, you don't see it but the film is suggesting the monster killed all the babies. Foul. A child dies very early on and the mindless violence is un called for and fails to be cool like in the alien quad or the two pred movies. Avoid at all costs ps I am a horror movie fanatic aliens is my fave movie of all time. pps The ending is awful.

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyable tat!   November 7, 2008

Ok, I have to admit once I'd heard they were making a sequel and it was going to be more hardcore sci-fi horrorfest than previous attempt by the 'Anderson', I became very excited to relive the good old days of 'Aliens' and the very underrated 'Predator2'. And yes, the story is a little on the poo side but is adequate fare considering the other franchise films. The action is cool and the film as a whole seems a good step up from the drivel in AvP. Here's hoping the next film raises the bar on all fronts as this one does feel like a filler for the time being. Oh yes, the teenagers in it are very annoying but who cares when they get ripped to pieces....

2 out of 5 stars Oh No   October 18, 2008

Yep. I gave this a try in the sincere hope that the majority were wrong. Or maybe it was because I thought it couldn't really be that bad. Could it? Oh yes. Shot almost entirely in the lowest light possible two of the finest beings created by Hollywood have yet again been served with an utter heap of tripe. The Predator's come out best but the 'PredAlien' is ridiculous. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a good film to be made from these two franchises combining but it needs someone to do it with some care and finess. Far too often the people who made this film wanted to get to the demise of the human. There was little if no tension. That in my view was the secret of these films. You knew something was going to happen but you didn't always know when. In this film the cheesy script and letargic acting does little to encourage anyone left in the cinema to keep on watching. There were a few nice touches - I liked how the Predator picked up the helmet of a slain predator and was able to watch back what the dead Predator saw in the visor. A kind of Predator Video Recorder. But in general this film which yet again had the chance to fulfill this reviewers dreams of providing an all time Sci-Fi classic became a torrent of bilge on an awful scale. Next time....yes maybe next time....fingers crossed.
