hilarious need a region 1 release sometime tho September 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After discovering this great tv show on youtube I had to give it a try. Unfortuantely here in the states they don't have any plans to release this. I bought this series thinking i would be able to watch it on my computer however that was not the case so I haven't been able to watch the copy i bought from amazon but I've seen enough on youtube and feel it deserves a 5 star rating.
Hilarious, inventive satire. August 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Spitting Image really gets into full swing here, boasts a crew of some of Britain's top satire writers and impressonists. Politicians of all leanings come in for a pasting. Thatcher rules her motley band with a rod of iron, Reagan is still enjoying his years of blissful ignorance and Russia is now run by the trendiest man ever to sport a kipper tie. Meanwhile, the Kinnock-led Labour party is keeping one 'pit' open for King Arthur and the Tory wets take a swim. Celebrities also appear, from Paul Daniels presenting a tacky game show to Leonard Nimoy desperately trying to throw off his Mr Spock image. Though maybe a few sketches will go over some peoples' heads, most are well-written and hilarious.
Classic comedy August 2, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
As an 18 year old who never had the chance to watch the series the first time round, I have bought both series 1 and 2 on DVD. I was told that during series 1 Spitting image was finding its feet and as a result of this was not as good as the subsequent series. However, now having viewed the second series, I actually prefer series 1.
In my opinion series 2 did not have enough political comedy in it and was much too celebrity based. Series 1 had a lot of Thatcher and the cabinet and I adored the scenes with them in. Although the ones in series 2 were great, especially a manical Michael Heseltine in full Falklands mode! But there wasn't enough of it and I was disappointed.
I'm hoping series 3 etc will pick up again but perhaps elder viewers of the show already know what to expect.
