Product Description Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, Diane Lane, Jamie Bell, Rachel Bilson
Amazon.com As preposterous action movies go, iJumper/i is pleasantly unpretentious and breezily entertaining. A young man named David (Hayden Christensen) discovers he has the power to teleport (or "jump") anywhere he can visualize. After using this power to steal and make a comfortable life for himself, he pursues the girl he longed for in school (Rachel Bilson, iThe O. C./i). But as he does so, another jumper (Jamie Bell, iBilly Elliot/i) and a pack of fanatical jumper-hunters called paladins (led by a white-haired Samuel L. Jackson) crashes into David's freewheeling life. Jumper wastes no time trying to explain how jumping works or delving into the hows and whys of the paladins; this is an alluring fantasy of power directed at a pell-mell pace by Doug Liman (iThe Bourne Identity/i, iMr. and Mrs. Smith/i, iGo/i). There's a brief moment when it feels like the movie will bog down in romance and vague gestures towards character development--happily, that's the moment when Bell appears and the whole movie shifts into overdrive. You might wish that Bell and Christensen had swapped roles; Bell has a far more engaging personality, and Christensen's bland good looks might better suit a more aggressive character. Nonetheless, iJumper/i has oodles of dynamism and nifty visual effects to propel its comic-book storyline forward. A variety of recognizable actors in bit parts (such as Diane Lane and Kristen Stewart, iPanic Room/i) suggest that the filmmakers are laying the groundwork for sequels. Based on a critically-acclaimed science-fiction novel by Steven Gould. i--Bret Fetzer, Amazon.com/i

Jump! December 17, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have to say I don't enjoy these types of movies usually, all the superhero stuff wasn't my bag as a kid, I just didn't grow up with comic books. I rented this because I thought it would be rather cool, with a lot of time travel, and I have to say I'm pretty lukewarm about it.br /br /David is a jumper, he can move from one place to another without moving himself. He discovered this talent when he nearly died on the river trying to save a present he'd bought for his lover Millie. When he discovers he can jump; he decides to take off as everyone thinks he's dead, and does bad deeds like rob banks, but when a jumper hunter comes after him, he soon realises his powers are not that good after all.br /br /This isn't a bad film, I just felt it was a bit limited in scope. I did enjoy Samuel L Jackson's role as the jumper hunter, he really did a good job, but I felt the rest of the cast were not as emotive, and lacked that kick this movie should have got. The action scenes are amazing and the filming of David in Egypt were amazing, and looked really fine on Blu-Ray disk.br /br /The blu-ray is a dream - excellent selection of extras and the film is even audio described, which is a real bonus. The audio is uncompressed DTS which is nice too. I was really impressed with the amount of documentaries on here, and the menu is rather cool. This will keep you entertained for around 5hrs, so set some time aside, because you will want to see the documentaries. br /br /3/5 for the film, 5/5 for the transfer and 5/5 for the extras.br /br /Lets hope more studios take note!
The first of three planned movies October 19, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Running David (Max Thieriot) loves little Millie (AnnaSophia Robb) with a love that couldn't die. He couldn't swim the raging river; but he leaned how to jump. What would you do if you found the ability to transport? Yep the first plan was to exacta all not nasty old paper in the local bank. Where do we go from here? For one thing it irks some people including fanatic "jumper hunter" Roland (Samuel L. Jackson.) We find new friends and enemies no known in the book. Then we have David's nagging question "Who/what is mommy?br /br /Inspired by the jumper character in the youth novels of Steven Gould the movie tried to rely more on the real world locations than graphics. They did a good job on jumper graphics. The names have not been changed just the story. In an effort not to follow the standard supper hero formula they instead relied on the Sunday afternoon T.V. children's specials formula.br /br /The film is entertaining but the efforts to be artsy or the efforts be unique are lost in the mundane and standard chase scenes.br /br /Sleepwalkingbr /Jumper: Jumpscars - The Official Prequel to the Film (Jumper)br /
Entertaining if empty August 22, 2008 It's a good, fun action movie with 2007's best special effect gimmick. Christiansen makes some amends for Star Wars here, but it's Jamie Bell who steals the show.

Fantastic fun June 27, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
br /I don't care what anyone says about this movie...it's nothing if not entertaining. The special effects are great and it certainly has the cool factor. OK, so there's the odd hole in the plot...but so long as you can overlook that then you should enjoy the movie. It's obvious there's going to be a sequel...
