Worth searching for... March 7, 2008 This is now a difficult CD to get hold of. But if you come across a copy of it BUY IT. Its a comedy masterpiece from Rowan Atkinson from early in his career.
Essentially this is a one-man show with an assistant and Howard Goodall (later to write the music for Blackadder and many other TV shows) providing the music. There are no weak sketches. The memorable ones for me are "Sir Marcus Browning MP". I've always thought this was loosely based on the late Prime Minister James Callaghan. A marvellous satire on the words of a politician. The Wedding is a set of three speeches, finishing with the Father of the bride, who whilst talking about his son-in-law to be, says "I thought the new vacuum cleaner had arrived".
In other peoples hands this material wouldn't be half as funny. Rowan Atkinson is blessed with unbelieveably good comic timing. His phrasing and the way he pronounces certain words is also a natural talent that few comedians have. I once heard the producer or director of one of the Blackadder describe his delivery of comic lines as akin to singing. Well if that is a valid comparison, I would also say he has perfect pitch as well!
This is one of the best comedy shows you will find from anybody, get a copy if you can.

This is an absolutely fantastic CD - a truly excellent mix of sketches and songs. It really is Atkinson at his best, and a must-have for all fans of good British comedy!

this is a must for any Rowan Atkinson fans - especially those that feel his "Mr Bean" days are a sad reflection of his wit in the Blackadder series. this is Rowan at his best. each sketch is hugely funny and does not lose the humour by constant listening. well worth the money and highly recommended.
