Large frame from good manufacturer December 2, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This, at 10 inches, is one of the largest LCD frames on the market. I've owned one for a few weeks and can compare it to a 25 more expensive Sony frame. The Kodak frame scores higher than the Sony in that it is cheaper, the frame is larger, and it will play videos. Both frames are solidly built and have similar picture quality. Like smaller Kodak frames this has the same intuitive menu driven operating system and usefully it has some inbuilt memory so you don't need to leave a memory card in the frame.
For the price and size it's competitive especially if you want to show video. I'd be tempted to look at the Sony 9 inch frame as well though if you can live with a slightly smaller and more expensive frame without video functionality. The latter has a larger in built memory saving up to 1,000 pictures.
Great! November 15, 2008 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I have an older version of this frame myself and purchased this for someone in their 80's as a present. Have plugged in flash drive to usb port and love the quality of the photos , new slideshow features etc. including random slideshow. The touch screen bit works well and once set up and set to a timed slideshow won't need to be messed about with by the owner anyway. Scanned images from pre-digital days display well and I am confident it will be a very well received xmas gift. The most negative review of the product appears to reflect nothing about this frame but everything about the purchaser's annoyance with amazon - not really relevant. Frame is fabby - very happy to give it 5 *****
Great product - great pictures!!! November 14, 2008 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I love my Digital Frame! Kodak's M820 frame allows me to display my digital pictures to friends & family alike - all of whom have been blown away by the quality AND it is really easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone.
Good picture, shame about the useability November 13, 2008 14 out of 17 found this review helpful
First lets start with the positive, the picture quality is great; and it feels like a high quality product. However, the user interface is awful; un-intuitive and as far as I can tell missing some obvious functions: there is no one touch pause/play capability in the slide show.
The menu structure associated with the quick touch border takes effort to get used to and is not explained in the manual.
I tried the unit with a couple of videos from my Panasonic camera, which play well on my computer using RealPlayer and Quicktime. The play back started well then became jerky then the picture stopped completely, play back continued with sound only, this happened both when the videos were loaded into the internal memory and when they were played directly from a SD an CF card.
I expected much more of this unit that it delivers. Going forward I will only use it as a slide show picture frame. Load up your choice of memory card using standard windows functions - no need to use the supplied software - plug it in, turn it on, and off you go.
Product Quality Problem AND Shocking Amazon Service October 16, 2008 24 out of 39 found this review helpful
This review is split into two parts; the 1) Frame and 2) Amazon customer services.
1) THE FRAME: I bought this frame as a birthday present for my brother back in early September. The first frame was sent out, and on set-up he discovered that the universal plug had a broken prong (couldn't fit the plug face plate). He subsequently returned it and I was sent a replacement. On set-up of the replacement, the frame would not power up. We sent this one back and asked for a refund (see section below). Still don't know if this was an adaptor problem or a problem with the frame. However, one thing is obvious, a 100% failure record suggests a quality problem with this Kodak frame or with a particular batch perhaps. I had bought the older version for my parents a while back and this worked a treat, so I am surprised this newer version appears so poor.
2) THE REFUND: I have been using Amazon for several years with generally good experiences, although I've never had to return a faulty item before. My experiences with this one have been shocking to say the least. When the first frame was returned (by my brother), I received no notification that the item I had purchased had been returned, which surprised me. When the second item was returned and a request made for refund, again no notification to me. How can this be?? More alarmingly however, this return was made on 11th Sept and as of today (4th Nov) I have still to receive my refund!!! After an e-mail enquiry gained no response, I made an initial call on 23rd Oct to the customer line and received a poor scripted response, but was told they would review and get back to me in 5 days. They never got back to me. In total I sent 3 e-mails via the online customer service function and received no response or acknowledgment at all. I called up again today and spoke to a guy who appeared to be more switched on and I received an apology (of sorts) and have been told I will get my refund in 24-48 hrs. Thanks Amazon, I've only had to wait 2 months to get my money back! All this incompetent and unprofessional service has left a bitter taste in my mouth and I am reluctant to use Amazon again to be honest.
