Great movie August 22, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am a lifelong fan of Mr Bean after watching the old TV series when I was a child, so I don't miss anything new from this character (including the animated series.) This film has some funny moments (I will not say what otherwise may ruin the storyline.) I would say that this is the sort of movie to watch if you feel low and want to raise your spirit as there is no vulgar or offensive language. I don't think that it was as funny as the first and the ending is abit of a let down. In summary I would recommend this movie to everyone young and old!
  Hilariously UNFUNNY!!! August 17, 2007
My 7 year old daughter was desperate to see this and since i found the 1997 film Bean to be quite amusing i thought no problem. Unfortunately this film is chronically unfunny with Atkinson spending 90% of the film gurning stupidly in closeup at the camera.
The story sees Mr Bean winning a raffle to go to Cannes with a camcorder and 200 francs. From there on follows the predicatble path of Mr Bean getting lost accross France, causing havoc and mayhem to numerous poor peoples lives, accidentally getting accused of kidknapping before eventually ending up all safe and sound where he should be (Cannes) with no harm done. The jokes and slapstick are so telegraphed that you see them and know the result long before they eventually hit and the whole thing is quite frankly embarrassing.
Ironically enough the most interesting and amusement to be had actually comes from the surprise appearance by Willem Dafoe who actually conspires to steal the show with his playing it straight performance.
The DVD comes with the usual extra's however it should be noted (and should result in the direct slapping of the editor) that the deleted scenes are all actually funnier than what amde it into the movie.
I would avoid this as it fail to entertain my 7 year old and Mr Bean has outlived it's shelf life. If your new to the character you'd be better off investing in a couple of the series dvd's as it is much cleverer and funnier than what is on offer here!!!

Anticipation and reality August 14, 2007 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
On a miserable afternoon, having heard some good reports of this film, my husband suggested that we should perhaps take my older sister (neither she nor we were particular Rowan Atkinson fans) to see Mr. Bean's Holiday. We were pleasantly surprised that it was so amusing, and we laughed so much. We came out of the cinema feeling our spirits had been 'lifted' by it. From the reactions in the cinema, I am sure that many, many others were of the same opinion.
